A Phippsburg lighting contest is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. Entry forms are at the Phippsburg Post Office. Registration closes at noon Monday.
United Way Holiday Wishes campaign is under way
Those who would like to contribute to the ninth annual United Way Holiday Wishes campaign can find a list of needed gifts at www.mygiftlist.com through Monday. Once on the site, click on the “Find Gift Registry” tab and type “Steamboat” as the first name and “Holiday Wishes” as the last name. Cash, checks and Chamber Bucks also can be donated. The goal of the program is to adopt 70 families this year, which is a 25 percent increase from last year, according to a new release. Toys for Tots still accepting gifts at several locations
Toys for Tots drop off locations include Alpiner Lodge, City Cafe, City Market, F.M. Light & Sons, K. Saari Gallery, Laurel Street Preschool, Safeway, Steamboat Lumber, Steamboat Motors, Steamboat Ski Area and Wildhorse Salon. The toy store will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Ninth and Oak streets. Local groups reach out to returning service members
The Routt County Veterans Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4264 and American Legion Post 44 in Steamboat would like to meet and greet local sons and daughters returning from military service. The VFW is looking for female war veterans. The American Legion also is looking for new members. Partners in Routt County seeking board members
Partners in Routt County, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing meaningful mentorships between adults and youths in our community, is seeking caring, committed volunteers to serve on its board of directors. The board meets monthly and is tasked, among other things, with helping to organize and meet Partners’ fundraising needs, including its annual Java ’n Jazz fundraiser.
