Hayden boys basketball faces busy weekend

■ 5:30 p.m. Friday: Tigers (1-2) at North Park (0-3)

■ 5:30 p.m. Saturday: Tigers vs. Little Snake River (5-2)

The Hayden boys basketball team learned at last weekend’s Cowboy Shootout in Meeker that replacing a slew of stars from a year ago wouldn’t be a seamless transition. The Tigers fell to fourth in that tournament, losing their final two games.

They’ll try to get back on track tonight against North Park and will face a tough test at home Saturday against Little Snake River, out of Baggs, Wyo. The Rattlers are 5-2, all five of those wins coming against Colorado squads, and three coming in the Cowboy Shootout.

The Rattlers won that tournament, beating Meeker in its own gym, 57-41.

Hayden needs to find some consistent scoring threats if it’s to hang in that grueling early-season test.
