— Steamboat Springs resident and sports broadcaster Verne Lundquist was recognized by the College Football Hall of Fame on Tuesday for his contributions to the sport.

Lundquist, along with broadcaster Brent Musburger, was a recipient of the National Football Foundation Outstanding Contribution to Amateur Football Award.

The award recognizes Lundquist’s contribution in enhancing the enjoyment of the game for millions of fans.

Lundquist announces for The Masters, PGA events, college basketball and recently did play-by-play for several Denver Broncos preseason games.

But he’s most well-known for his work with CBS and SEC football broadcasts.

Previous award winners have included Chuck Neinas, Eddie Robinson and ESPN College GameDay.
