Steamboat Springs The Hayden School Board on Wednesday night will elect its officers and discuss a draft list of grant requests the school district soon will consider submitting to the Steamboat Springs Education Fund Board.
“Most of the items on our list will be continuations of things that already are funded through the Fund Board,” Superintendent Mike Luppes said.
He said requests for the 2012-13 school year likely will include funding for a technology assistant, an interventionist at the middle school and technology upgrades.
“Our district focuses on technology requests because those are what we consider to be extra items,” he said. “Could we do without them? Probably so, but boy, do they help our efficiency and benefit our students. Without some of our extra funding in a tight budget cycle, we cannot get these types of things.”
Hayden received $127,000 from the Fund Board for this school year and secured new technology upgrades, including Smart Boards, with the money.
The Fund Board this year distributed $2.3 million worth of grants to Routt County’s three school districts.
