Steamboat boys basketball edges Roaring Fork, 48-45

Joel Reichenberger

— The Steamboat Springs High School boys basketball pulled out a tight game, winning its season opener Friday night against Roaring Fork, 48-45.

Jake Miller had 20 points and Eric Trousil 10 as the Sailors did just enough to hold off Roaring Fork down the stretch.

“Jake was fantastic. We got the ball inside to him and he was just finishing shots. Eric was right there with him,” Steamboat coach Luke DeWolfe said. “They carried us on both ends of the floor.”

The team returns to action at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Roaring Fork against Basalt.

“Our kids battled through adversity and did what they had to do to get the win,” DeWolfe said.
