Actually, last year I think they made 100-150 tix available that did not have to buy the entire package of festival/condo etc., so locals could buy tix. Three of the bands in town for last years Musicfest also played at the Ghost Ranch which was a nice alternative for locals who could not make the festival to still catch acts that were in the festival.

From the Musicfest website... Q. Can I purchase a festival pass or individual concert ticket for MusicFest performances? A. A VERY limited amount of festival passes are made available for the Steamboat area locals. Details of how and when to purchase these credentials are provided via the MusicFest online newsletter. See MusicFest newsletter link on this site to sign on. There are no individual concert tickets available.

And this is exactly why the proposal to increase local taxes provide assigned public funds to the airline subsidy program is so wrong.

This event is what Ski Corps wants to do to fill the subsidized airline seats and bring in customers. But then if the sales tax passes then the taxpayer will be subsidizing the airline seats portion of a travel package which includes an event which locals are not invited.

It should not be the role of government to tax everyone to subsidize a private corporation's ability to hold private events.

Scott, From what I have seen, most of the MusicFest attendees drive here. I must say, it is entertaining to watch the 2WD pick up trucks trying to make it up Apres Ski Way on the ice.

If I could make the request of local law enforcement to actually hold the individuals accountable when the brawls break out outside the Grand as they have for the past few years. I can appreciate that the Texans who get rowdy do not press charges against each other for the fights but you could at least lock them up for a public disturbance charge right? I could be wrong but it seems this violence is simply given a warning and has no accountability.
