The week ahead in Steamboat: Groundhog Day

— A high-pressure system camping out over much of western Colorado will bring sunny skies and dry weather to Steamboat Springs this week. Expect each day to look much like the next.

The National Weather Service forecasts daily highs ranging from 78 degrees today to 85 degrees by Wednesday. Overnight lows will remain in the low to mid-40s.

It might be the weekend before moisture — in the form of afternoon thunderstorms — returns to the region.

The warm, dry weather appears to be the break that local hay producers need. Many have been waiting to cut and bale their grass hay until they were guaranteed a day or two for the hay to cure after cutting.
