Steamboat Springs High School students who want to park a vehicle on campus or apply for open campus privileges in the 2011-12 school year are required to take a 4.5-hour Alive at 25 defensive driving course. The class also is open to the public. The course meets the requirements of Colorado’s graduated license law for new drivers who want to apply for a learner’s permit at age 15 1/2. Some insurance companies offer reduced rates to students who have completed the course.

Classes are at 1 p.m. Aug. 16, 3 p.m. Aug. 25 and 4 p.m. Sept. 6 at the high school. For more information, go to www.coloradosafedriver.com or www.aliveat25.us, or call 720-629-4046.
