The Steamboat Springs High School leadership class is hosting its annual Kids Carnival today in the practice gym. The carnival includes games and prizes for local preschoolers through second-graders, including home-schooled students in those grade levels.
Preschool and half-day kindergarten students can participate from 9 to 10:30 a.m., second-graders from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and first-graders and full-day kindergarten students from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
Pilot & Today is seeking Editorial Board members
The Steamboat Pilot & Today is accepting letters of interest from readers who would like to serve as community representatives on the newspaper’s Editorial Board. Those representatives will be asked to serve a four-month term beginning in May.
The Editorial Board includes two community representatives and three members of the newspaper staff. Newspaper staff members on the board are General Manager Scott Stanford, Editor Brent Boyer and reporter Tom Ross. The Editorial Board formulates the Our View opinions expressed on the ViewPoints page of the newspaper. The Editorial Board meets at 10:15 a.m. Tuesdays.

Philanthropist of the Year nominations due Friday
The Yampa Valley Community Foundation is accepting nominations for its Philanthropist of the Year awards until Friday. Philanthropist of the Year awards are presented annually to an individual, youth and business during the Community Foundation’s Celebration of Philanthropy. Middle school, Partners in Routt County team up
Steamboat Springs Middle School and Partners in Routt County are celebrating Global Youth Service Day by holding a school supply drive through May 4. Community members are asked to drop off new supplies in any of the bins at the middle school, high school, Soda Creek Elementary School, or City Market. All collected items will benefit disadvantaged youths in Routt County.
YVEA’s annual meeting and board election is June 18
Yampa Valley Electric Association’s annual meeting and board election is June 18 in the Hayden High School auditorium. Agenda items include officer and director reports; business transactions; and director elections.
Three director terms are expiring this year: those held by District 3 representative James Simos, of Craig; District 6 representative William Haight, of Steamboat Springs; and the vacant District 2 seat. Simos is not seeking re-election.
Director nominations must be in the form of a written petition signed by at least 15 YVEA members. The petition must be filed at YVEA offices by 5 p.m. May 4.
