Steamboat Springs The South Routt School Board will discuss Thursday night whether to ask voters to consider a half-cent sales tax.
The district currently receives some funding from the Education Fund Board, which allocates the city of Steamboat Springs’ half-cent sales tax for education. Its own half-cent sales tax would provide South Routt schools with another funding source. Voters approved a mill levy override last year to generate about $350,000 annually for five years.
The School Board also is scheduled to discuss adding an integrated economics class to the district’s graduation requirements. And School Board members will consider the 2011-12 district calendar and next year’s faculty and staff salary schedule.
The meeting is scheduled to begin with a workshop that will include a tour of the district’s greenhouse at 5:30 p.m. at the district administrative offices, 305 S. Grant St. in Oak Creek. The regular session is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
