Routt County engineer: Flooding calms down
After heavy rains that clogged culverts, water flow subsided
Wednesday, April 20, 2011
Steamboat Springs Senior County Road Engineer Heather McLaughlin reported late Wednesday afternoon that the problems that popped up Tuesday with creeks and ditches overwhelming road culverts around Routt County had subsided.
“Everything has calmed down today,” McLaughlin said. “I have been inspecting bridges on the Elk (River) and the creeks up north all day, and everything is looking very good.”
She added that work done to add a second culvert at a point on Routt County Road 54 to ward off flooding at the Rick Myers ranch was “holding and effective.”
