Steamboat Springs The Oak Creek Town Board is scheduled to discuss two hot-button town issues at a work session Thursday night. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 129 Nancy Crawford Blvd.
The board will discuss the issue of unpaid electricity bills in the wake of the repeal of Ordinance 609. The ordinance would have allowed the town to place liens on properties with unpaid electric bills, making landlords liable for any charges their tenants owe. Ordinance 609 passed on March 24 but was repealed on April 14, before it went into effect, so the board could further investigate options of recouping unpaid bills.
The board also will discuss how to approach recent complaints of residents growing large amounts of medical marijuana in residential properties.
At last week’s Town Board meeting, Routt County Sheriff Garrett Wiggins and several Oak Creek residents said they supported a ban on the commercial growth and sale of medical marijuana.
