Council on Aging seeking Routt County centenarians
In May 2011, the Colorado Commission on Aging is considering having its annual Centenarian Celebration in Steamboat, according to the Routt County Council on Aging. The Centenarian Project is a promotional activity of the Commission on Aging to celebrate the lives of centenarians across the state, recognize their century of achievement, and focus the attention of Coloradans on the political and social issues of aging. The project awards centenarian certificates prepared by the commission and signed by the governor to those 100 or older. Colorado Mountain College graduation is set for May 7
Spring commencement ceremonies for Colorado Mountain College students in Steamboat Springs will take place at 11 a.m. May 7 at The Steamboat Grand on Mount Werner Circle. More than 100 students will be recognized and receive associate degrees or certificates. Dr. Stan Jensen, president of the multicampus college, will deliver the commencement address.
Homemaker group to award Second Chance Scholarship
The Colorado Master Farm Homemakers Guild is offering a $500 scholarship to a Colorado woman with an agricultural background. The Second Chance Scholarship will be given to someone who has had her education interrupted or postponed and hopes to attend a college or trade school. Homemakers are encouraged to apply.

South Routt libraries are looking for new patrons
South Routt County librarians are encouraging residents to stop by the libraries in Yampa and Oak Creek to sign up for membership or to update their membership information. VNA offering meningitis vaccines for all students
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other leading medical groups recommend meningococcal vaccine for preteens and teens ages 11 to 18, college freshmen living in dormitories, and children ages 2 to 10 who are at increased risk or if elected by their health-care providers and parents.
