Beaver Flat fire contained

Steamboat Springs — Fire crews in North Routt County on Monday continued fighting a blaze that spread from a campfire.
U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Diann Ritschard said crews expected to have the 8-acre Coulton Creek fire contained by 6 p.m. Monday.
The fire is near Forest Service Road 429 and about half a mile from the Coulton Creek Road, west of the Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area. It’s burning in mixed spruce, fir, aspen and grass.
Ritschard said in a news release that the fire spread from a campfire near the road.
A 20-person hotshot crew, a helicopter and North Routt Fire Protection District firefighters all fought the fire Monday. The helicopter pulled water from a nearby beaver pond to drop on the flames.
No structures are threatened and no roads are closed as a result of the fire.
Beaver Flat
Fire crews contained the Beaver Flat fire on Friday and expected to have it fully controlled Monday evening, Ritschard said.
That fire was last reported at 53 acres in a remote area of the Routt National Forest south of Hayden.
No structures are threatened in that fire, either.
The cause is thought to have been lightning.
