Diana Eubank: Gals and guns

Gals with guns always seem to turn heads. Lorna Farrow was one classy gal with lots of guns. And she did not just catch your eye and turn your head, even all geared up in her signature purples. What Lorna did was turn your attention to the fun, the skill and the positive experience of shooting. I certainly caught the bug from her, and I am sure there are a lot of others out there that can say the same.

The first annual Lorna Farrow Memorial Fun Shoot in 2009 was a great success. I hope Lorna was pleased by what was started last year in her name. There were so many new shooters trying their hand at something she loved, and so many smiles.

Lorna knew that shooting is a skill that you can enjoy your entire life. She knew that teaching and encouraging youths, and ladies, in the shooting sports would carry with them for their entire lives. She taught that the respect for firearms and the discipline involved in shooting them well is applicable to all sorts of other arenas in life.

Please come by today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Routt County Rifle Club 2 miles west of Steamboat on U.S. Highway 40 for the second annual Lorna Farrow Memorial Scholarship Fun Shoot. Come check out what Lorna was so passionate about. Everyone is welcome — shooters and those not sure if they can or want to shoot. Let us turn your head and your attention. Join us for a safe and fun afternoon to honor Lorna and her dreams, and to support 4-H. I promise it will be a blast — literally.
