Steamboat Briefs: DOW hunter safety class begins today in Hayden

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is offering a hunter safety class at Hayden High School. The class is from 6 to 9 p.m. today through Friday. The time is to be announced for a Saturday class.

The class will cost $5. Call 970-871-2855 to register. Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1949, must have completed an approved hunter education course before applying for or buying a hunting license in Colorado.

Coed adult fall volleyball league registration open

Registration is open for the Adult Coed Fall Volleyball League. The league plays on Monday evenings at Steamboat Springs Middle School starting Oct. 4 and running through late December. Information and registration forms are available at the Steamboat Springs Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department Office, 245 Howelsen Parkway, or at www.steamboatsprings.net/rec (click on Adult Sports, then Volleyball). The cost is $350 per team, and the deadline to register is Sept. 23.

Horse first aid certification class set for Oct. 15 to 17

An equine first aid certification course is Oct. 15 to 17 at The Steamboat Grand and Sid­ney Peak Ranch. Dr. Ruth Soren­son will focus on practical knowledge and skills that horse owners, riders, wranglers and trainers can use every day. Classes are developed and taught by veterinarians and equine professionals. The cost is $375. Register at www.equinelearning.com.
