Steamboat Briefs: Horse first aid certification class set for Oct. 15 to 17

An equine first aid certification course is Oct. 15 to 17 at The Steamboat Grand and Sidney Peak Ranch. Dr. Ruth Sorenson will focus on practical knowledge and skills that horse owners, riders, wranglers and trainers can use every day. Classes are developed and taught by veterinarians and equine professionals. The cost is $375. Register at www.equinelearning.com.

Road closure planned for OktoberWest on Sept. 18

OktoberWest at Steam­boat Ski Area will affect traffic in the area, and two closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sept. 18. Access from the Mount Werner Road/Après Ski Way roundabout to the Gondola Transit Center will be closed, but the roundabout will be open. Access from Ski Time Square Drive to the Gondola Transit Center will be closed, but the Ski Time Square roundabout will be open. The parking structure between The Steamboat Grand and the Sheraton Steamboat Resort will be accessible.

Steamboat Boys and Girls Club seeking donations

The Steamboat Springs Boys & Girls Club is looking for children’s bike helmets for children ages 6 to 12 years. The club also is looking for a retail display case and adult-size stacking chairs. Call Bonnie at 819-4797.
