Pilot & Today Staff

— A Parker man was killed Saturday after a one-vehicle rollover wreck in Grand County, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.

The wreck occurred at about 7:05 p.m. on Grand County Road 25 about 2.4 miles south of U.S. 40 near Wolford Mountain Reservoir. The wreck was about seven miles north of Kremmling.

A 2003 black GMC rear-wheel-drive pickup was traveling north when it entered a sharp downhill curve to the left. The pickup started to rotate counterclockwise, skidded off the right side of the road and rolled two times down an embankment.

The driver, Nicholas Dean Oaks, 20, was ejected. He died from his injuries at the scene.

Amber Smith, 21, of Morrison, was in the passenger seat. A 14-year-old from Parker was in a rear passenger seat, according to the release. Both were taken to Kremmling Memorial Hospital with minor injuries and later released. None of the occupants was wearing a seat belt, according to the CSP release.

The release stated that alcohol was suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash, but no more details were available.
