Steamboat briefs: City softball tournament set for Sept. 18 and 19

Steamboat Springs The city of Steamboat Springs will host a men’s 12-inch double elimination softball tournament Sept. 18 and 19. Registration forms are available at www.steamboatsprings.net, or contact Colleen O’Gorman at softball@steamboatsprings.net and 970-846-4481. The cost is $195 per team, and the registration deadline is Thursday.
It’s a Girl Thing book club continues in fall at library
Bud Werner Memorial Library will continue its popular book discussion series for girls and women called It’s a Girl Thing in the fall. This free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a woman partner such as mom, grandma, friend or teacher. Registration is limited and begins Tuesday. Pairs may register for one or two out of three discussions. Book discussion dates are 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. Each pair will be asked to contribute a dish to the group meal.
Adult Coed Fall Volleyball League registration open
Registration is open for the Adult Coed Fall Volleyball League. The league plays Monday evenings at Steamboat Springs Middle School starting Oct. 4 and running through late December. Registration forms and information is available at the Parks & Rec Office, 245 Howelsen Parkway, or at www.steamboatsprings.net/rec (click on Adult Sports, then Volleyball). The cost is $350 per team, and the deadline to register is Sept. 23.
Restaurant association golf tournament is Friday
A golf tournament for the Steamboat Springs chapter of the Colorado Restaurant Association is from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club. The event benefits the association and the Chris Corna ProStart Scholarship fund. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. The cost is $100 per person. The price includes greens fee, cart, lunch and donation. The cost is $55 for Rollingstone Ranch members with paid green fees and cart pass and $65 for members without a cart pass.
