Steamboat briefs: City softball tournament set for Sept. 18 and 19

— The city of Steamboat Springs will host a men’s 12-inch double elimination softball tournament Sept. 18 and 19. It’s a Girl Thing book club continues in fall at library

Bud Werner Memorial Lib­rary will continue its popular book discussion series for girls and women called It’s a Girl Thing in the fall. This free program is open to girls ages 10 to 12 and a woman partner such as mom, grandma, friend or teacher. Registration is limited and begins Tuesday. Pairs may register for one or two out of three discussions. Book discussion dates are 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10. Each pair will be asked to contribute a dish to the group meal.

Adult Coed Fall Volleyball League registration open

Registration is open for the Adult Coed Fall Volleyball League. The league plays Mon­day evenings at Steamboat Springs Middle School starting Oct. 4 and running through late December. Registration forms and information is available at the Parks & Rec Office, 245 Howelsen Parkway, or at www.steamboatsprings.net/rec (click on Adult Sports, then Volleyball). The cost is $350 per team, and the deadline to register is Sept. 23.

Restaurant association golf tournament is Friday

A golf tournament for the Steamboat Springs chapter of the Colorado Restaurant Association is from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday at Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club. The event benefits the association and the Chris Corna ProStart Scholarship fund. Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at noon. The cost is $100 per person. The price includes greens fee, cart, lunch and donation. The cost is $55 for Rollingstone Ranch members with paid green fees and cart pass and $65 for members without a cart pass.
