Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Institute would like to thank the more than 300 people from all across the nation who attended our sold out second annual Freedom Conference this past weekend. It is extremely gratifying and encouraging to see the high level of interest in people who want to learn more about lower taxes, limited government, individual rights and responsibilities, free market capitalism and strong national defense.
We are proud to contribute to the national dialogue on these important principles via C-SPAN, CNN and other media outlets. We also are proud to be a part of the intellectually diverse community of Steamboat Springs. While we will often not agree with one another on matters of public policy and principles, we respect those with differing viewpoints who, like us, have the courage of their convictions.
I would like to correct a factual error in a letter to the editor written by another Steamboat Springs resident that appeared in this past Sunday’s Steamboat Pilot & Today editorial page. The Steamboat Institute does not offer a “children’s rate” to attend our annual Freedom Conference. Rather, we offer a “Young Professionals/Students” rate of $175 for those under the age of 30. This special rate is clearly listed on our website, www.steamboatinstitute.org.
Finally, we would like to bring to your attention the positive economic impact that our Freedom Conference has on the city of Steamboat Springs. With more than one-third of our conference registrants traveling to Steamboat Springs from other cities and states, we were able to fill hotel rooms and restaurant tables that would have otherwise sat empty. In addition, we utilized the services of several local businesses in putting on our conference.
I am always happy to personally visit with anyone who has any questions or would like more information regarding The Steamboat Institute. We look forward to being a vital participant in the future of our community and our country for many years to come.
