Steamboat Springs There only were minor injuries in a head-on crash that closed Anglers Drive for about 30 minutes Friday night and reduced westbound traffic on U.S. Highway 40 to just one lane.
Steamboat Springs Police Department Officer Scott Middleton said the crash occurred at about 6:51 p.m. when a Ford Crown Victoria heading west on U.S. 40 collided with a Volvo SUV attempting to turn left onto Anglers Drive. Middleton said the Volvo SUV turned in front of the Crown Victoria on a yellow light.
The impact caused airbags in both vehicles to deploy, Middleton said. Both drivers and their passengers were wearing seatbelts. Several people were treated on scene for minor injuries, but no one was taken to the hospital, Middleton said.
The driver of the Volvo was issued a ticket.
Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue also responded to the accident. The vehicles were cleared and all lanes opened to traffic by about 7:20 p.m.
