Steamboat Briefs: LIFT-UP is still accepting gently used coat donations

Gently used coats can still be donated to LIFT-UP of Routt County through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Ski Town Cleaners at Curve Plaza and Central Park Plaza. Ski Town Cleaners is donating the cleaning of collected coats, and LIFT-UP will distribute the coats from 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays starting Monday at the LIFT-UP Food Bank.

Phippsburg rummage shop starts its Christmas Sale

The Phippsburg Community Club rummage shop starts its Christmas Sale on Thursday, and the sale will continue each Thursday until Christmas (closed Thanksgiving). The shop is at Third Avenue and Pine Street.

Survey gathers input about youth behaviors and beliefs

Grand Futures is collaborating with the Routt County public schools and local law enforcement to conduct a parent survey on youth attitudes, behaviors and beliefs on alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and bullying, according to a news release. This voluntary survey will be offered at upcoming parent-teacher conferences. The survey also is available online:

Paper copies in English and Spanish are available at either middle or high school offices, or call Grand Futures at 970-879-6188. Parents of Lowell Whiteman School, Christian Heritage School and home-schooled youths in sixth through 12th grades are invited to participate, as well.

Library seeking Wii games for local gaming program

The Bud Werner Memorial Library has a Wii and is looking for support for its gaming program. The library is seeking donated Wii games and is especially looking for a copy of Super Smash Brothers Brawl for use during National Gaming Day on Nov. 13. All games can be dropped off at the front desk.

Backcountry gear needed for regional youth corps

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is looking for donations of quality backcountry gear. Needed items include sleeping bags, two- and three-person tents, sleeping pads, backpacks and day packs. Call Sheila at 970-879-2135, ext. 1.
