Steamboat briefs: Lowell Whiteman auction set for Saturday

— The Lowell Whiteman Pri­­mary School’s annual Scholar­ship Auction will be at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Sweet­water Grill. Wine, beer and appetizers will be served and items will be offered for auction. Tickets are $50. Proceeds from the event help provide scholarships for students in the upcoming school year. Pink scarves requested for Bust of Steamboat

Pink scarves are needed from knitters and crocheters as part of an annual fundraiser for the Bust of Steamboat. Drop off scarves to Epilogue Book Co. Epilogue will sell them, or they will be available at the Bust of Steamboat event at 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at Three Peaks Grill. All proceeds stay local. Call Marilyn for more information at 970-870-3262.

Revival events this week at South Routt Bible Church

A revival is scheduled for Wednesday through Sunday at South Routt Bible Church, on Colorado Highway 131 south of Oak Creek. Events are at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 9:30 a.m. Sunday. There are no events Saturday. The highlighted speaker at the revival will be Tom Palmer, who will speak at each event.

Council on Aging seeks county centenarians

In May 2011, the Colorado Commission on Aging is considering having its annual Centenarian Celebration in Steamboat, according to the Routt County Council on Aging. The Centenarian Project is a promotional activity of the Commission on Aging to celebrate the lives of centenarians across the state, recognize their century of achievement, and focus the attention of Coloradans on the political and social issues of aging.

The project awards centenarian certificates prepared by the Commission and signed by the governor to those 100 or older. Those who know of someone in Routt County who will be turning 100 this year or already has reached that milestone are asked to contact Laura Schmidt at the Routt County Council on Aging, director@rccoaging.org or 970-879-0633.

Newborn Network offers free resources to parents

Newborn Network is a support system dedicated to providing parenting and resource information to all families who live in Routt County and have children from birth to age 3.

Newborn Network’s free services include weekly networking and education groups, parenting education home visits, a lending library of parenting topics and a series of gift bags. Parents of a child as old as 3 can call 970-879-0977 for more information about support services.

Adult day services offered at Haven Assisted Living

The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering adult day services at The Haven Assisted Living Center in Hayden, for any disabled individual older than 18 or elderly individual who is looking for daily activities with oversight provided.
