Steamboat briefs: Local groups reach out to returning military veterans

— The Routt County Veter­ans Affairs, Veterans of For­eign Wars Post No. 4264 in Steam­boat Springs and American Legion Post No. 44 in Steam­boat would like to meet and greet local sons and daughters returning from military service.

The VFW post is looking for female war veterans. The American Legion is looking for new members.

Backcountry gear needed for Rocky Mountain corps

Rocky Mountain Youth Corps is looking for donations of quality backcountry gear. Needed items include sleeping bags, two- and three-person tents, sleeping pads, backpacks and day packs. Call Sheila at 970-879-2135, ext. 1.

Veteran services, benefits offered at Sundance Plaza

Veterans can find out which services and benefits they are eligible for through the Routt County Veterans Affairs Office. The office is at 425 Anglers Drive, in Sundance Plaza.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to noon Mondays through Wed­nesdays and 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thurs­days.

Tread of Pioneers Museum seeks front desk volunteers

The Tread of Pioneers Museum is seeking volunteers. The Steamboat Springs museum needs front desk volunteers to work three-hour shifts. 

Duties include greeting visitors, answering phones, collecting admissions and gift shop sales. Friday and Saturday afternoon shifts are especially needed.

The museum also needs help with upcoming special events and is seeking school tour guides.

Dance Theatre accepting scholarship applications

Steamboat Dance Theatre is accepting applications for the Amy Flint Memorial Scholarship Fund for Dance and Technical Production Training. This fund provides assistance for dancers of all ability levels who want to pursue their love of dance or for those interested in training in technical production.
