Steamboat Springs Another snow storm is expected to move into the area around midday Sunday with the potential to leave behind at least a few inches of powder by the end of the day Monday.
The National Weather Service is yet to issue a winter storm watch or warning for the Steamboat Springs area, but its forecasters say the mountains of Northwest Colorado will bear the brunt of a new Pacific storm system. Locally heavy snow is possible.
After some clearing on Tuesday, a new round of Pacific storms is expected to move into the region Wednesday and continue to create the possibility for snow through the remainder of the week, according to the National Weather Service. Daytime highs are forecast at freezing and lower.
Snow is always welcome news to skiers, riders, and Steamboat Ski Area officials. But even without new snow over the past couple days, the ski area opened an additional 20 trails today — including all of the trails on Pioneer Ridge. The Pony Express chairlift is not open, however.
