Symphony Orchestra hosts Holiday Concert on Dec. 5

The Steamboat Symphony Orchestra is providing free admission to its Holiday Concert Mati­­nee for low-income seniors, Hospice patients, and residents of The Haven Assisted Living Center and the Doak Walker Care Center.

Rio Grande to donate 10 percent of Dec. 5 proceeds

The Rio Grande Mexican Res­­taurant in Steamboat Springs is donating 10 percent of its proceeds Dec. 5 to Partners in Routt County, a local youth mentoring organization. Partners in Routt County staff will be at the Rio from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 to talk with people about the organization.

Santa’s Workshop is Dec. 11 at Boys and Girls Club

The Optimist Club of Steamboat Springs is sponsoring the second annual Santa’s Workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Boys & Girls Club of Steamboat.

The family event is free to all and offers a variety of holiday festivities, including Mrs. Claus cookie decorating, writing a letter to Santa, visiting with Santa, a holiday puppet show, reindeer games, holiday crafts and more.

Registration open for city basketball, volleyball, soccer leagues

Registration is open for the city of Steamboat Springs’ adult basketball, volleyball and indoor soccer leagues. Leagues start in early January and run until early April. All teams and those looking to join a team must register by Dec. 2 at the Parks, Open Space and Recreational Ser­­vices Depart­ment office, 245 Howel­sen Parkway.

Veterans can find services offered at Sundance Plaza

Veterans can find out which services and benefits they are eligible for through the Routt County Veterans Affairs Office. The office is at 425 Anglers Drive, in Sundance Plaza.

Hours are from 8 a.m. to noon Mondays through Wed­nes­­days and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thurs­days.

Tread of Pioneers looking for front desk volunteers

The Tread of Pioneers Museum is seeking volunteers. The Steamboat Springs museum needs front desk volunteers to work three-hour shifts.

Duties include greeting visitors, answering phones, and collecting admissions and gift shop sales. Friday and Saturday afternoon shifts are especially needed.

The museum also needs help with upcoming special events and is seeking school tour guides.

Dance theater accepting scholarship applications

Steamboat Dance Theatre is accepting applications for the Amy Flint Memorial Scholarship Fund for Dance and Technical Production Train­­ing.

Local groups reach out to returning service members

The Routt County Veterans Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4264 in Steamboat Springs and American Legion Post 44 in Steamboat would like to meet and greet local sons and daughters returning from military service.

Home builders is seeking sponsors for Toys for Tots

The Home Builders Assoc­iation of Steamboat is seeking sponsors and donations for its second annual Toys for Tots fundraiser and toy distribution.

The group plans to serve families in Routt, Moffat and Grand counties this holiday season.

Sponsorship levels are $500 for Angel Sponsors, $300 for Santa Sponsors and $100 for Snowman Sponsors. Checks can be made out to HBA Steamboat with “HBA Steamboat/Toys for Tots Fundraiser” in the memo line.

Donations of used clothes, shoes, bikes, water filters and pumps, blankets and computers are needed for Sori Malé, Mauritania, in West Africa. A local Mauritanian is helping his home village. Call 970-870-3069 for more information.
