Steamboat blood drive is set for June 3 at YVMC

A Steamboat Community Blood Drive is from 12:30 to 6 p.m. June 3 at Yampa Valley Medical Center. Call the Bonfils Appointment Center at 800-365-0006, ext. 2, to schedule an appointment. Appointments also can be made online at www.bonfils.org, using site code 0234.

Donors are asked to eat a full meal and drink plenty of water before the give blood. Walk-ins are welcome after 2:30 p.m. as space permits.

Library users now can download books from site

Digital natives with a Windows 7, 32-bit or 64-bit computer now can download audio books through the Bud Werner Memorial Library’s new audio book platform, NetLibrary. Library card holders can go to the Library’s Web site at http://www.steamboatlibrary.org/opacdownloadablemedia.html to create an account and download the software onto their computers. Group to present plan for Chief Plaza Theater June 23

The group Friends of the Chief will present its plan for converting the Chief Plaza Theater to a cultural center with a focus on performing arts, films and a traveling acts venue, from 6 to 8 p.m. June 23 at Centennial Hall, 124 10th St. A Q-and-A session will follow the presentation.

C.R. 129 closed to through traffic in far North Routt

Routt County Road 129 is closed to commercial and through traffic from Columbine in North Routt to 3 Forks Ranch, about 10.2 miles, effective immediately. The closure is a result of spring thaw and impassable road conditions. Emergency services, if available, will be slow and expensive, according to a news release from the Routt County Road and Bridge Department. Call 879-0831 for more information.
