Judging by the size of the crowd Sunday at Christian Heritage School, one would think the Class of 2010 had multiple seniors participating in a ceremony before taking the next step in their lives. But it didn’t. Hannah Zwak was the lone member of the school’s Class of 2010.

A growing movement to coordinate sustainability and conservation efforts in anticipation of oil’s decline — a debatable topic itself — comes to Steamboat Springs this week. Michael Brownlee, co-founder of Transition Colorado, hosts a screening of “In Transition 1.0” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bud Werner Memorial Library. In addition to the 50-minute film, the free event includes a discussion about growing “transition” efforts.

Steamboat Briefs: Steamboat school budget workshops set for today

The Steamboat Springs School District is hosting two community budget meetings today. There is no agenda for the meetings, which are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Both will take place at the district’s central office at 325 Seventh St.

2 Steamboat track athletes qualify for state

The qualification list for the Class 4A state track meet was finalized Sunday morning, and Steamboat Springs High School had two athletes listed. Gus Allen will compete for the Sailors in the boys 3,200-meter run, and Morgan Bessette will compete in the girls triple jump. Only the top 18 athletes from each event qualify.
