Steamboat Springs The eastbound lane of traffic on U.S. Highway 40 through downtown Steamboat Springs will be closed from Sixth to Eighth streets from 9 a.m. to noon today. That eastbound traffic will be detoured onto Yampa Street.
Overnight concrete paving is scheduled for U.S. 40 from Ninth Street to 11th Street from 7 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Wednesday. Traffic will be detoured onto Yampa Street between 12th and Seventh streets during the paving work.
Youth Corps application deadline is extended
The Community Youth Corps application deadline has been extended one week. Applications are due by 5:30 p.m. Thursday. CYC offers youths of the Yampa Valley an opportunity to earn while they learn by contributing to community improvement projects, according to a news release. Participants must be 14 to 16 years old. Applications are available at www.steamboatsprings.net/rec, click on Recreation, Teen Programs, Community Youth Corps to download; or at the Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department offices. BLM announces days it will waive fees on lands
The Bureau of Land Management, in conjunction with other agencies within the Department of the Interior, will waive recreation-related fees for visitors June 5 and 6, Aug. 14 and 15, Sept. 25 (National Public Lands Day) and Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) on many of the public lands managed by the BLM, including areas within the National Landscape Conservation System, according to a BLM news release.
Site standard amenity and individual day-use fees at BLM recreation sites and areas will be waived for the day, according to the release. Other fees, such as overnight camping, cabin rentals and group day use, will remain in effect.
