Hike and Bike to School program began last week

Five Strawberry Park Elementary School students braved the snow Thursday on the first day of the Hike and Bike to School program, Co-Principal Michele Miller said in an e-mail last week.

“One actually unicycled to school,” Miller said about fourth-grader Mac Skov.

The program, organized by parent Paige Boucher, encourages students to bike or walk to school. Participating students are awarded prizes, which are donated from local businesses, Miller said. She said students would have the option to participate in the program every Thursday for the rest of the school year.

In addition to Mac, fourth-grader Will Beurskens, and fifth-graders Paula Cooper, Brooke Buchanan and Madeline Boucher rode their bikes or walked to school.
