Steamboat briefs: Group seeking applicants for Ann Copeland award

Steamboat Springs The Northwest Colorado Products Board of Directors has announced the new Ann Copeland Emerging Producer Award. This award is named after Ann Copeland, a NWCP board member who passed away in July 2009, according to a news release.
The intent of the Ann Copeland Emerging Producer Award is to recognize a person who exhibits innovation, good business practices and the entrepreneurial spirit in his/her approach to designing, developing, marketing and distributing a product that originates in Northwest Colorado. The inaugural award will be presented at this year’s Northwest Colorado Products annual meeting at 5 p.m. May 14 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center, 1605 Lincoln Ave.
Applications can be obtained by e-mailing Nancy B. Kramer at nbkramer@communityag alliance.org or at the Community Agriculture Alliance, 1694 13th St., Suite 201. Applications are due May 10. They can be delivered to the office or mailed to P.O. Box 774134, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477.
Little League in need of coaches for ages 8 to 10

Community Youth Corps application due Thursday
The Community Youth Corps application deadline has been extended one week. Applications are due by 5:30 p.m. Thursday. CYC offers youths of the Yampa Valley an opportunity to earn while they learn by contributing to community improvement projects, according to a news release. Participants must be 14 to 16 years old. Applications are available at www.steamboatsprings.
net/rec, click on Recreation, Teen Programs, Community Youth Corps to download; or at the Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department offices. Completed applications can be e-mailed to thornor@steamboatsprings.net, faxed to 870-0173 or dropped off at the Parks and Recreation offices at 245 Howelsen Parkway. CPR instructor course scheduled for May 15
An American Heart Association CPR instructor certification course is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 15 at Colorado Mountain College’s Alpine Campus. The cost is $50, plus $35 for an instructor manual. Participants must have their AHA Healthcare Provider CPR card or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer CPR/AED Card and the Certificate for the AHA Core Instructor Course.
