Steamboat gondola running again after wind-related shutdown

— The gondola at the Steamboat Ski Area is running again after being shut down at about 9:45 a.m. today because of high winds. The lift started back up at 11:19 a.m., Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. spokeswoman Loryn Kasten said.

Officials were operating the Sunshine, Sundown, Storm Peak and Morningside lifts at slower speeds this morning because of the wind. Kasten did not have an update on whether that was still the case. The Sunshine lift was eventually closed, but officials reopened it at 11:13 a.m.

Today's weather forecast from the National Weather Service calls for wind gusts up to 35 mph in the city, and scattered rain showers after 3 p.m. Today's high temperature is expected to reach 55 degrees.
