Steamboat briefs: Aging Well, VNA will offer diabetes class in Steamboat

— Aging Well, a program of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, in partnership with the Yampa Valley Medical Center Diabetes Education Program, presents Healthier Living Colorado: Diabetes. The six-week workshop starts Tuesday and will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yampa Valley Medical Center, Conference Room 2. The class is for those with diabetes and their caregivers, and anyone who wants to prevent diabetes. Participants of all ages will learn to effectively manage their symptoms of diabetes and other chronic conditions. Building permits dated before Jan. 1, 2007, expired

Steamboat Springs, Colorado-Routt County Regional Building Department has announced that building permits with application dates before Jan. 1, 2007, expired Jan. 1, 2010. This includes all buildings started between 2001 and 2006. The department will send out letters notifying owners, according to a news release. A permit may be reissued upon payment of 50 percent of the original permit fee.

Chamber opens registration for home and garden expo

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association’s third annual Home and Garden Expo is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 8 at The Steamboat Grand. Chamber members in good standing are invited to exhibit for $100. The registration deadline is April 30. The event is free and open to the community.
