Steamboat Springs could host 10,585 visitors this weekend, or about 61 percent of lodging capacity, according to the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association’s weekly lodging barometer. The Chamber is projecting 75 percent capacity in downtown hotels and nearly 70 percent capacity in hotels at the base of Steamboat Ski Area, with about 55 percent capacity in base area condominiums. The figures are similar to visitor numbers from the weekend of March 21, 2009, which brought 10,887 guests to Steamboat. Projected lodging occupancy dips sharply in a week, however — about 6,900 visitors are projected for Wednesday. That’s about 40 percent of lodging capacity. The forecast for the weekend of March 27 is about 52 percent capacity, or 9,023 visitors.
