Steamboat Springs Strings Music Festival announced highlights from its 23rd season lineup today, outlining a series of Saturday night classical concerts, Wednesday night chamber programs, and Different Tempo concerts featuring top names in folk, jazz and blues.
Violinist Sarah Chang opens the 2010 season on June 26, when she’ll join the Strings Festival Orchestra for a concert of pieces by Rossini, Bruch and Beethoven.
The Kingston Trio is the first act of the summer’s Different Tempo schedule. Known as a leading name in folk music since the late 1950s, the group performs June 27 at the Strings Music Pavilion.
Also scheduled for Different Tempo — a series of concerts featuring nonclassical acts — are flamenco guitarist Jesse Cook on July 1 and 2; singer-songwriter Paula Cole on July 16; jazz trumpeter Chris Botti on July 30; blues guitarist Keb’ Mo’ on Aug. 6; and singer-songwriter and “Walking in Memphis” performer Marc Cohn on Aug. 13.
