— Members of the Steamboat Springs Arts Council will get an update Friday about the nonprofit group’s plans for 2010.

The Arts Council’s annual members meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Depot Art Center. Arts Council representatives hope the annual event will offer a chance to highlight what the organization has planned for the rest of the year, Interim Executive Director Clark Davidson said. A board member since winter 2009, Davidson has been sitting in as executive director since the beginning of this year, he said.

“We really have come together to develop a number of new ideas that we hope will turn into programs,” Davidson said. Those ideas are designed to meet the Arts Council’s goals of bringing more people into the Depot and bringing a variety of art to the community, he said.

Among those ideas is a trio of summer programs for elementary-school-age children to be held at the Depot, he said. A summer theater program is back for its second year, and plans are in the works for a late-summer visual arts program and a three- or four-week dance program, he said.

In addition to describing programs planned for the summer, board members and Davidson plan to “tell people how all their donations and memberships have supported the arts,” Arts Council Program Manager Rachel Radetsky said. The meeting is geared toward Arts Council members but is open to anyone, Radetsky said.

‘A Cabaret Re-Run’

After the meeting, Arts Council Board President Kelly Anzalone, frequent Arts Council event contributor Michael David and other collaborators will present “A Cabaret Re-Run,” a collection of all-time favorite skits reaching back about 15 years from the Arts Council’s annual variety show fundraiser.

“I’ve been one of the few people that have gone over just the hours and hours and hours of old video and old DVD that we have of past shows, and we’re picking out the absolute funniest, funniest stuff,” David said.

The screening, which is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m., is a fundraiser for the Arts Council; donations will be requested at the door. Tickets for this year’s Cabaret will be on sale during the event. Performances are May 6 to 8 at Strings Music Pavilion; tickets are $30. DVDs from some past Cabaret performances also will be available for purchase. Cabaret tickets go on sale for Arts Council members at 8:30 a.m. Thursday and to the public at 8:30 a.m. Friday. They’ll be available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday until the show or until they sell out.
