A local organization is working to pair rescue horses with new owners. Rescued to Ride, a Routt County organization that is awaiting approval of its nonprofit status, was created to train rescue horses in preparation for adoption, Executive Director Diane Panetta said.

Steamboat rugby team earns 1st win

Squad beats Breckenridge, 40-31, in home opener

The Steamboat Springs Rug­by Club used a torrid 15-minute stretch in the second half to pick up its first win of the season, a 40-31 triumph against Breck­enridge on Sunday at Whistler Field. Steamboat, now 1-1 overall, remained in the hunt for a Mountain League title with the win.

The June 11 shooting on Steamboat Springs’ west side was the most recent in a sparse string of violence, and one that may have a better ending than several previous incidents.

The Steamboat Springs Sch­ool District is issuing a $211 refund or credit to most parents whose children attended full-day kindergarten this past year. Of 124 students’ parents, 70 were sent an e-mail informing them they were eligible for a refund because they already had paid for the final month of tuition.
