Colorado Bike to Work Week starts on Monday

— Local bicycle advocacy group Routt County Riders, in partnership with the city of Steamboat Springs, invites bicyclists of all ages to join next week for the Colorado Bike to Work Week.

“We live in a biking community where biking to work is an everyday event, even in the winter,” said Robin Craigen, president of Routt County Riders.

Daily events are planned Monday through Saturday, and Bike to Work Day is Wednesday. Breakfast will be provided to bikers on the Routt County Courthouse lawn from 7 to 9 a.m. Wednseday.

Bike to Work Week expanded last year to include daily events sponsored by local businesses. New this year is “Coffee for Commuters.” Anyone commuting to work by bicycle during the week will receive free coffee from Amante, Creekside Café, Freshies, Lil’ House, Starbucks, Winona’s or Zoom Coffee Shop.

My bike is tuned-up thanks to Steamboat Ski and Bike Kare - I am ready to go! They worked wonders on my 25+ year old Stump-Jumper I purchased at a garage sale for $10 last fall. I just may do the "Coffee Tour de Steamboat" next week.
