A mother duck and her 10 ducklings caused a stir near the post office at Third Street on Thursday when the mother duck decided she wanted to get to the Yampa River — by crossing Lincoln Avenue at about 6 p.m.

Steamboat Springs has filed a petition for review of the Humble Ranch case by the Colorado Supreme Court, continuing the legal proceedings in a dispute involving land conservation, wildlife preservation, private property rights and efforts that began more than a decade ago to increase public access on the south flank of Emerald Mountain.
