Steamboat woman praised for calling police about co-worker

Police Capt. Joel Rae: Co-worker might have saved woman's life Friday

Police Capt. Joel Rae said Joan Ganz might have saved Rhonda Cash's life by calling police Friday when she did not arrive at work. Rhonda Cash had been shot at her home that morning. Rhonda and Robert Cash remained hospitalized in Denver.

Officers stormed into west Steamboat home after hearing gunshot

Police Capt. Joel Rae said it appears that 55-year-old Robert Cash shot his wife, 48-year-old Rhonda Cash, in the back of the neck at about 6:30 a.m. Friday and then turned the gun on himself. Rhonda Cash was flown out by air ambulance later in the day and is listed in critical condition.

The Steamboat Rugby Club dropped its opening game of the 2010 season Saturday, falling to rival Vail, 12-0. Playing in adverse conditions complete with rain, hail and high winds, the two top teams in the Mountain League waged a back-and-forth battle.

Runner Joy Stearns conquers Cog in husband’s memory

Joy Stearns couldn’t run last year’s Cog Run in Hayden, even after her husband, Brett Stearns, organized dozens of his friends and co-workers from firefighting outfits in Craig to do it. She promised him she’d run it in 2010, and, in his memory, she did.

According to Scott Contracting, the 13th Street intersection will remain closed at least until Tuesday. Crews still plan to open Third Street to all turns that day.
