Steamboat Springs Employees of the town of Oak Creek could get merit-based raises of $1 to $3 per hour in a plan the Town Board will consider at a meeting tonight.
Mayor Nikki Knoebel said Town Board members would consider awarding raises to employees who go through additional training. Town employees have not had raises since 2007, she said.
The Town Board also will consider waiving the stipend paid to Town Board members. The board has waived the fees for years, and the new members elected this year again will get a chance to discuss the issue.
Scott Ford, director of the Routt County Economic Development Cooperative, also will address the board, and Town Board members will consider extending a moratorium on medical marijuana cultivation.
Knoebel said that because Gov. Bill Ritter approved new legislation Monday, the town could extend the moratorium to look at what the new law mandates and allows.
The new legislation grants local governments more leeway in regulating or banning medical marijuana dispensaries by government decision or by voter approval.
