Steamboat Education Fund Board seeking volunteers
The Steamboat Springs Education Fund is seeking people to serve on the Education Fund Board, the Educational Excellence Commission and the Capital/Technology Commission. Terms are for two years. The Steamboat Springs Education Fund Board is a nonprofit, independent corporation that administers proceeds of the half-cent city sales tax to expand resources and enhance student achievement in the three Routt County school districts. Children’s book club kits are available at library
Local children can start their own Kids’ Book Clubs with Bud Werner Memorial Library’s Book Buzz Kits. Each kit contains eight paperback copies of books and discussion questions for a variety of beloved titles for boys and girls ages 7 to 12. Kits can be checked out for six weeks. They can be reserved three months in advance by calling the library at 879-0240, ext. 314.
Library has ‘Dog Days of Summer’ children’s program
Bud Werner Memorial Library invites users to be part of the “Dog Days of Summer,” the new Read to Dogs Program at the library. Beginning readers ages 5 to 10 can drop in to the library’s Story-time Room from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Aug. 2 to practice reading out loud to a trained Heeling Friends therapy dog.
