Meeting to discuss leash laws tonight


— The Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation Commission is working with Responsible Dog Owners of Steamboat, RDOGS, and the staff at Police Services and Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services to discuss a leash law program with tiered options, which would include leash free areas within and upon certain city parcels, according to a news release.

A public meeting about the issue will be at 5:30 p.m. today in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Commission Work Session. The meeting will be in the American Legion Room at the Steamboat Springs Community Center at 1605 Lincoln Ave.

Those who cannot attend are asked to e-mail the Parks and Recreation Commission with thoughts and concerns:

Owners need to take responsability.....Pick up your Poop...Its gross...And POOP POLLUTES.If you are one of the people that lets the dog off leash to run along the Yampa or any waterway so it can CRAP...AND you dont pick it up...You should be ashamed for polluting our water.Talk about that tonite???

your right Green dog poo is gross and those owners who don't clean up after thier dogs are disrespectful to others and the enviornment(sp)..while the majority of dog owners obey the lease law thier are those SPECIAL people that don't ,..I have been biten several times by dogs while doing my job and one owner accused me of provocing his mutt yeah right I got out of my truck to pick up your trash..heck I even started carring treats around but still got bit by some mutts....the standard responce is " I cann't believe my dog would do that..believe good luck with this
