Steamboat briefs: Winter Carnival events registration begins Jan. 29

Registration for the 2010 Winter Carnival street events begins at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 29 at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association visitors center at U.S. Highway 40 and Anglers Drive. Pre-registration is required for all horse events; there will be no day-of registration. Contestants may enter for only one horse event per day and may sign up for only one alternate per day.
All street event contestants must purchase a Winter Carnival button. The 97th annual Winter Carnival is Feb. 3 through 7. The street events take place Feb. 6 and 7. For more information about registration, call the Chamber at 879-0880.
Young Life fundraising banquet is set for Jan. 30
Young Life of Steamboat Springs’ 11th annual fundraising banquet is at 6 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Steamboat Grand. The banquet includes an auction and entertainment. Young Life is a nonprofit Christian organization that works with middle school- and high school-age students. All are invited to the banquet.
