Telemark World Cup event coming to Steamboat

U.S. team wraps up four-day camp at Howelsen Hill while looking forward to Feb. 20-28 races. The eight-day World Cup will take place in Steamboat and Keystone.

10:25 p.m. Police were called to a request for a welfare check in the 3100 block of South Lincoln Avenue where a man, set to be married the next day, reportedly became intoxicated and ran away. Officers were unable to find the person who called in the request or the groom-to-be.

Steamboat briefs: Music tent goes up in Knoll lot

The Steamboat Music Tent is scheduled to go up Saturday in the north portion of the Knoll Parking Lot and will remain standing through Jan. 20 for upcoming music events, said Loryn Kasten, spokeswoman for Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp.

Craig police chief fires back at Sheriff Wall

Craig Police Chief Walt Va­natta said he saw no use in getting into a war of words with Routt County Sheriff Gary Wall. But that didn’t stop him from throwing a verbal jab at Wall this week. Wall recently spoke out about ethical issues he sees in the Craig Police Department and All Crimes En­­forcement Team drug task force. “I think anyone who has already faced his own ethical challenges should worry about his own stuff,” Vanatta said.
