Police: Steamboat woman remains jailed after Friday night incident

The 51-year-old was airlifted to Denver Health on Friday night, where he has been stabilized, Steamboat police Detective Nick Bosick said. The driver accused of hitting him, 68-year-old Steamboat Springs resident Nancy Gerdean Graves, remained jailed Saturday on vehicular assault and driving under the influence charges.

Steamboat briefs: Car hits pedestrian at US 40, Walton Creek Road

A pedestrian was hit by a car and seriously injured at about 6 p.m. Friday at U.S. Highway 40 and Walton Creek Road in Steamboat Springs. A 51-year-old man was crossing U.S. 40 when a westbound 2010 Subaru struck him, said Detective Nick Bosick, of the Steamboat Springs Police Department.

Steamboat hockey team wins in Pueblo, 3-2

The Steamboat Springs High School hockey team got back to its winning ways Friday, outlasting Pueblo County, 3-2, on the road. Steamboat, 9-3-2 overall, jumped out to an early lead and did enough late to come away with the win.

Carnival continues with street events, Night Extravaganza today

Drew Picking, 2 1/2, finished up Friday's Soda Pop Slalom, the family-geared Winter Carnival event, with his twin sister, Izzy, and parents, Lynn and Andy. Drew was the first skier out of the gate and one of about 300 children to participate in the annual timed slalom event at Steamboat Ski Area.

1 girl taken to hospital, released to her mother after Jan. 30 party

Deputies are investigating another reported incident of underage drinking after a 16-year-old girl was found unconscious in a car at a party held the night of Jan. 30. Routt County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ken Klinger said he thinks six to eight minors were drinking at the party in a house on Routt County Road 24. Between 40 and 50 teens, some young adults and a number of parents also were at the party, Klinger said.

Steamboat boys team wins against Palisade

The Steamboat Springs High School boys basketball team decided enough was enough Friday against Palisade and cured an offense that has been inconsistent all year. Steamboat overcame a porous first quarter and a first-half deficit and looked to get over the hump offensively, running away from Palisade, 60-45.

Soroco High School’s Madison George shoots team past West Grand, 50-48

The Soroco High School girls basketball team, 6-5 and 2-2, beat West Grand, 50-48, on Friday night. “We grew up tonight,” Soroco coach David Bruner said. “We’ve played in close games before but not come out on top. We had to grow up to come out on top, and we did.”
