Mottlau and his younger brother, Timothy Mottlau, were with Lopez when the group quarreled with David and Eduardo Capote and were present for the reported assault that led to Lopez’s death. Taking the stand at the end of the second day of testimony, Michael Mottlau recounted how he and his companions were at the Tap House Sports Grill, where he said the Capotes heckled them for their selection of song.

A U.S. Telemark Ski Team “A” member for the first time at the age of 16 in 2008, Steamboat Springs teenager Lorin Paley has managed to stomp through a few barriers in her short career.

10:09 a.m. Police were called to a report of vandalism in the 1300 block of Lincoln Avenue. An employee of a business reported that he or she noticed a rock had been thrown through one of the windows, police said. There was a small hole in the window, and no sign of attempted entry into the business, police said.
Steamboat briefs: Intrawest sells The Village at Squaw Valley, Panorama Mountain Resort
Intrawest, the parent company of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., has sold two of its resort properties in the past week. On Friday, Intrawest sold The Village at Squaw Valley to Squaw Valley USA, the operator of the Lake Tahoe, Calif., ski resort. The European-style Village at Squaw Valley includes two condo-hotels, six restaurants, 20 retails shops and a full-service spa. The sale price was not disclosed.
