Police investigating Steamboat vehicle break-ins

Pilot & Today Staff

— The Steamboat Springs Police Department is seeking help in finding out who broke into at least a dozen unlocked vehicles in Whistler Village Townhomes.

Sgt. Rich Brown said the vehicles had been broken into Wednesday night or early Thursday. Police received a call from one victim Thursday morning and then found that additional vehicles had been broken into.

“We identified this morning about a dozen, and we know there are others,” Brown said.

Some of the vehicles had just been rummaged through, while others had items stolen, including electronics, cash and change.

“People need to lock their doors,” Brown said.

Police ask people with information to call the department at 970-879-4344 or Crime Stoppers at 970-870-6226.
