Steamboat Springs The Soroco High School boys basketball team didn’t find the game it was looking for Saturday at Gilpin County.
The Rams, hoping to close the 2010 portion of their schedule with a win, were stunned in the game, falling, 65-51.
“I think maybe we overlooked them a little bit,” Soroco coach Andy Johnson said.
The team was led by senior Leif Carlson, who had 15 points. Nick Paxton scored 13 and Michael Rossi 10, but it wasn’t nearly enough. The Rams were down, 21-7, after the first half and trailed big the whole game. A 24-point fourth quarter helped close up the score, but it did little to cover for what Johnson said was just a bad game.
“We really need to play better defense,” he said. “Now, we’re headed into this break with a lot to work on. We need to work hard.”
