Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs’ Eliza Outtrim opened the freestyle World Cup season Saturday just off the podium in Ruka, Finland.
Outtrim finished fourth, 0.55 points away from third-place finisher Kristi Richards, of Canada.
Olympic gold medalist Hannah Kearney won the event with a score of 24.09, and Olympic silver medalist Jennifer Heil, of Canada, was second, 0.07 points behind.
On the men’s side, Steamboat’s Jeremy Cota was 14th.
American Patrick Deneen, who trained in Steamboat, won, Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury was second, and France’s Guilbaut Colas was third.
The freestyle World Cup continues Wednesday with dual moguls in Meribel, France.
